  All Wheel Drive Report
The coming Q5 Sport Xover

If you can't find an AWD Audi to consider, you either really aren't looking or are as poor as I am. I'll give you an overview of each of Audi's 9 vehicles, but you'll have to follow the links to get specifics on the myriad variations of each. Remember, my price and equipment descriptions are ALWAYS for the least expensive way to get AWD on any particular vehicle.
Any time you see the word "Avant" applied to an Audi, think "Wagon". When you see the word "Cabrio", think "ragtop". It's less confusing that way.
The Audi website is now so flash heavy that unless you have a cable modem, don't bother. It is very annoying not having simple, good quality navigation links. And the R8 flash pages actually crashed my browser.

Audi AWD Choices

2009 Audi A3The entry level Audi is the A3. You no longer have to upgrade the base model to what's called the A3 3.2 S Line in order to get the Quattro AWD. The Audi A3 2.0T is powered by a 200hp 2.0 liter turbocharged Inline 4 engine. It comes with a 6-speed transmission and quattro® permanent all-wheel drive. Nicely trimmed of much of the gadgetry, the 2009 A3 with Quattro AWD can now be had for a much lower $30,500
2009 Audi A4 SedanThe new 2009 A4 sits on the same platform as Audi's -5 series of vehicles, but does so as a 4 door sedan. Larger and roomier than the '08 A4, this one is also available with the 2 liter turbo motor as the A4 2.0 TFSI Premium. That's a mouthful for what I would call the base AWD A4 sedan. In this car, the engine is set up to make 211hp; a 5% increase over the A3 level. The A4 is also available in wagon (Avant), convertible (Cabrio) and Sport (S and RS) trim levels, with varying powertrains, including a manual 6 speed option. The AWD A4 sedan starts off at $32,700.
2009 Audi A5The new for 2009 Audi A5 is only available as a 2 door coupe (for now). If you are in need of a four door, then the A4 is your model. Quattro AWD is standard, and a It is powered by 3.2 FSI V6 and produces 265 hp and 243 ft.-lbs. of torque. The only variant on the A5 is the S5 which has a 4.2 FSI V8 engine making 354 hp and 325 ft.-lbs. of torque.  Don't confuse the A5 S-line with the S5. The S-Line option adds a sport suspension and upgraded wheels and tires along with a lot of useless bling. Without the optional $2,000 tiptronic automatic, A5 models with a six-speed manual transmission will start at $40,700
2009 Audi A6The 2009 Audi A6 is also available in Avant, or S6 trim. The supercharged 300hp 3.0 liter V6 equipped sedans and wagons come with the quattro AWD system, while the 3.2 liter versions are front wheel drive only. 4.2 V8 vesions also get quattro and both come with the Tiptronic transmission. The A6 Avant is only available with the 3.0/Tiptronic motor and trans. The S6 trim level brings you the 435hp 5.2 liter V10 powerplant . The A6 is no longer available on the Audi "build-it" pages, so it may be the last year for this car... The Audi A6 3.0T quattro Avant will start at $53,310.  The Audi A6 4.2 quattro sedan will start at $60,950, and the Audi S6 will start at $75,900.  The A6 3.0T quattro sedan will start at $50,100.
2009 Audi A8Truly a car for the elites, the 5 passenger A8 series is elegant, yet functional. Little changed from 2008, the Audi A 8 sedan has 3 upgrades from the base A8 model available. The A8 L has a roomy, stretched wheelbase option that would be a nice basis for an armored limo, and the A8 L W12 keeps that long wheelbase, and adds the 450hp "W" configuration engine along with a host of upgrades to justify the unchanged for 09 price of $120,100. The sporty 450hp S8 is also available for $96,200. A8 prices start at $74,050
2009 Audi Q5The Audi Q5 is the newest crossover from Audi that uses the A4/A5 platform. Using the 265hp 3.2 FSI engine and quattro all-wheel drive the Q5 is only available with the tiptronic transmission. It does not have a 3rd row seat option, consistant with Audi's performance orientation for this vehicle. The Q5 will be the first Audi offering with Generation 3 MMI, (multimedia, communication and operation) and navigation with real-time traffic information. The Audi Q5 will be available in March, and yet there is still no price information available as late as Jan 2009... Audi will only say it will be competitive with the BMW X3 and Lexus RX350.
2009 Q7 The 2009 Audi Q7 crossover is a neat car too. The Q7 is available in a variety of powerplant and trim options, from the standard 5 passenger 280hp 3.6 to the 350hp 4.2 Prestige version. Planned for release in the spring of 2009 is a TDI (clean) diesel powerplant version capable of towing 6,000 lbs and still exceeding 30mpg highway. This may be the better "green" option, with recent revelations that California's mandated Flex-fuel vehicles have been almost exclusively fuelled by gasoline, at enormous cost both in purchase price, and economy, since the flex-fuelers were larger and less efficient than the vehicles they replaced. Prices for the Standard Q7 3.6 start at $43.500.
2009 Audi TT quattro The 2009 Audi TT can now be had with AWD even in the 200hp, 2.0 liter version. Optional is the 250hp, 3.2 liter V6, which also permits the addition of a manual 6 speed transmission. New for 2009 is the turbo motor version; the TTs, pushing 265 hp from the 2.0 liter engine. There is also a roadster version, otherwise known as a cabrio in Audi-speak. We call it a convertible. It has a retractable rear spoiler that automatically deploys at 75 mph. The short 97 inch wheelbase supports a surprisingly heavy 3,218 lbs. Prices for the TT 2.0 quattro with an S -tronic transmission start at a lower $37,300
2008 Audi R8 The Audi R8 supercar is powered by a 420 hp 4.2 liter V8, pushing 3,605 lbs on a 104.3 inch wheelbase. The weight betrays the fact that the car gives away nothing in terms of creature comforts in favor of all out performance. Audi’s first-ever mid-engine sports car was named after the legendary race car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times earlier this decade. Prices for the R8 quattro with a 6 speed manual transmission start at $114,200
